No one puts Cupid in the corner, much less forces him to visit the same old haunts over and over (and over) again. Well, not this week at least. On Monday, October 7, romantic Venus cruises into Sagittarius, the globetrotting adventurer of the zodiac. The cosmic love goddess will hang in the Archer's domain until November 5, turning our affections towards spicier pursuits. Anything dubbed as "different from me" will hold special appeal. Bring on the cross-cultural connections, be they for amorous purposes, creative collabos, or lively friendships (Venus loves all three). Have things gotten a little too "lather, rinse, repeat" with your boo…even too close for comfort? Venus in Sagittarius is a fine time for a couple's getaway—bonus points if passports are required. Playdates, sports, and a more exploratory approach to close-to-home activities are sanctioned by the stars now too. Any change of scenery will be downright seductive. We expect to see more cars pulled off at the side of the road for a little, ahem, pit stop (wink, wink) between now and November 5.
Alas, it's not all fun and games this week. (Is it ever?!) On Tuesday, sober, status-y Saturn syncs up with clever, restless Mercury at the same degree of Scorpio. This uncomfortable cosmic cabal will happen two more times this year—once on October 30 (while Mercury is retrograde) and again on November 26. The message is clear: it's time to deal with those serious-as-a-heart-attack issues in our lives like figuring out how to live within our means, getting kids into the right school district, or extracting ourselves from bad romances. The good news is that when Mercury and Saturn DO get in alignment, amazing plans emerge. Clever Mercury provides the innovative ideas while can-do Saturn brings the elbow grease. While we may be facing momentous challenges, we're poised for major breakthrough. Barriers, begone!
On Friday, the quarter moon in Capricorn marks the balance point between the October 4 Libra new moon and the coming full moon in Aries on the 18th—which also happens to be a glowing lunar eclipse! Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and this quarter moon brings more of the aforementioned "let's make a plan, damnit" energy of the Saturn-Mercury meetup. The focus on Friday is on finding the middle ground between being a great partner to others and forwarding our own personal desires. We may need to bow out of a commitment, or at least back off a bit from the associated responsibilities, in order to give our own needs their proper airtime. Capricorn is the careerist of the zodiac too, reminding us that love is NOT all we need, not if it means sacrificing our own gifts and talents. Or perhaps, that love can include loving what we do and produce with our own imaginations and industrious ways. Power lunch, anyone?
